Billy Thorpe "Children of the Sun" playing now reminds me of the old "All Request KZEW Weekend" prefaced with "As long as it's not Starway to Heaven, Freebird or the dreaded Children of the Sun" hilarious and if I recall it was voiced by John Rody.. If you guys can dig up that old classic that would be pretty funny.

I still think Children of the Sun is a kick ass track. It's a shame ol' Billy couldn't follow it up with another banger.

Children of the Sun is a great track. It was late in his career as he was pumping out hits in the 60s! That album was a perfect storm at the right time when album rock was at its peak.

Stairway to Heaven was also an iconic track. It’s funny though. Back then it was overplayed at got a bad rep. We are colorblind to the past here at the zoo. The next generation of rockers need to hear these songs. If it wasn’t for us, they may not even know about them.

I’m so proud we don’t follow trends or industry or label pressures. We are free to play what artists worked so hard to craft. We are the zoo!

I didn't take the No Request Weekend as a knock on the music or bands but more directed at the musically clueless who call in a request of the same thing heard all day on any given day. To me a request would be something like a deep cut or a band overlooked..Only the Zoo would pull that off it was brilliant and a nod to its audience who knew better.
